History of Role
By Cmr/Role |
April 1989, Role was build by Cmr and Knightrider. In that time Cmr was called TBG. To build the group Role was Cmrs idea, the name Role was found by Cmr and Knightrider. R.O.L.E. is the short name for Raiders Of the Lost Empire. In the beginning, Role was a small group with all Belgian members. Role became international at the end of 1989/beginning 1990. In the beginning of 1990, Alf/Role started to code the diskmagazine Rockn Role. In may 1990 Role released their first mega-demo called Look at me. In this period Shot808 changed his handle (codename) into Dash. In June 1990 Role HQ kicked out a lot of Australian members on advise of Witty (who was also an Australian member). It seemed to be a mistake of Witty, the guys werent bad at all, but it was done and Role HQ decided to kick Witty also out of the group in September 1990. Also in June 1990 TBG changed his handle into Commander or in a short way Cmr. In the beginning of 1991 the diskmag Rockn Role got a new outfit. In July 1991 Rockn Role #15 was the first issue of this diskmag which used digitized pictures. During 1990/1991 lots of members came into and went out of Role. Then Role made a big jump when Ice-t joined the group. He was a tallented coder (programmer). August 1991, Dr.Nash/Proxyon joined Role and changed his handle into Guzzler. He had renamed his board (BBS) into The Lost Empire. The designing of this BBS was done by Zap/Role. In the beginning of 1992 Role HQ got into money-problems which caused an onactivity of Role during 1992. In 1993 Role went little by little active again and in 1994 Role released some real good products again. In July 1995 Role released the diskmag Rockn Role again after a delay of a few years (issue 19). Sorex/Wow joined Role as second group. Dennis became father of a son. Dash went to the Amiga-section of Role and changed his handle into G. Ice-T changed his handle into Drakkanor. At the end of 1995 Simple/Role joined Fairlight. In February 1996 Role started the diskmag Channel I. April 1996, Drakkanor changed his handle into The Chronic. In the beginning of May 1996 Nancy (Cmrs girlfriend) joined Role. Simple/Fairlight rejoined Role. Role made the demo Dreamland. September 25th 1996, Role talked with the group Acrise+Excess about having a copy-party together (it never became reality!). September 26th 1996, Prometheus (who changed later his handle into Sash) joined Role. September 27th 1996, Nancy and Cmr married. On October 25th Wow and Role went into a (only) cracking co-op. December 26th 1996, some Role members went to The Party VI in Denmark. Rockn Role #21 has been spread over 200 times at this party. In the beginning of 1997 Nancy changed her handle into Icegirl. February 13th 1997, Cmr/Role got a letter from Swayze. The letter was a statement of the joining of the whole Polish group Golden Trio. On February 14th 1997 Role and Dark Crystal talked about doing a copy-party together (this also never became reality!). In the beginning of March 1997 G rejoined Role on C=64 again. September 21th 1997, the youngest brother of Cmr got a son named Ben. On September 25th Rude/Wow joined Role. He also started to make a Web-site for Role. On October 30th 1997 Cmrs father died. In the middle of November 1997 Sash left Role and released his last Role-product called Mortal Kombat Digi Collection. In the middle of January 1998 Role and Spiders-crew decided to merge the diskmags Channel I and Arachnophobia to one diskmag called Arachnophobia which will be released by Role and Spiders-crew together. At the end of January 1998 Einstein/Wow asked Role to organise the C64-section of the Wired98-party together with Wow in July 1998. April 6th 1998, Cmrs brother (Daniel Engelen) died in a car-accident. In the beginning of May 1998 S.U.C.K., Ganja and Mist joined Role. Together with these new members also the diskmag X-Dome came under the Role Flag. Role also started the Rolean Time, a kind of own Scene-time. The diskmag Channel II presents this kind of time on the C64. July 17-19 1998, Wow and Role organised the C64-section of the Wired98-party. On December 9th 1998 Sash rejoined Role as a diskmag-coder. January 1st 1999, Cmr/Role. Raiders Of the Lost Empire
